Banned Books Week (BBW) is an annual event celebrating the freedom to read and the importance of the First Amendment. Held during the last week of September, Banned Books Week highlights the benefits of free and open access to information while drawing attention to the harms of censorship by spotlighting actual or attempted banning of books across the United States.Stop by the display next the Recommendations desk on the first floor to see a selection of books that have been banned or challenged for various reasons in libraries all over the United States. Don't be surprised if you find that some of your favorite books appear on a banned or challenged list.
